October 2005 Field Journal 10.20 Wood Thrush, El Polin Spring, Presidio
After about two hours of frustration with some very poor looks, we finally got decent looks at the bird. Video can be found here.10.22 [SFBirds] Cattle Egret, Lincoln's Sparrow
The CATTLE EGRET had moved to the lawn west of Crissy Lagoon by 8:30 this
morning. When I left, it was near the west end of the lawn.

I forgot to mention that I had a CALIFORNIA TOWHEE near the bus stop at the
NW corner of Lake Merced carrying a stick in its mouth. There were at least
two birds in the area. On the surface, this would seem to suggest a nesting
confirmation a good 6 weeks after the last confirmed date of 21 September in
the BBA.10.30 [SFBirds] Hawk Hill
Later this atternoon I was on Hawk Hill and the movement of raptors into SF picked up as the NW wind picked up. These are rough estimates of birds I saw go into SF:Red-tailed Hawk 6-8, including an interesting juvenile with a pale head and lots of pale on the upper wing.
Merlin 2
Sharp-shinned Hawk 8-10
Cooper's Hawk 2-4, including a large female that had everyone's pulse goingHome
