May 2006 Field Journal 5.20 Glen Canyon Park
There was no evidence of migration or vagrancy for that matter. The pair of BULLOCK'S ORIOLES look very nesty; they were very quiet and reclusive. I saw the male disappear into the willows from the trail west of the creek roughly half way between the ball fields and the day care center. One adult and three juvenile GREAT-HORNED OWLS were delighting passer-bys. A PURPLE FINCH was heard along with a STELLER'S JAY, but otherwise it was conspicuously quiet.Actually, Alan's posting reminded me that there were a few migrants at Glen Canyon, including about 10 CEDAR WAXWINGS and at least two WESTERN TANAGERS.
